The former Minister for Justice and ex-Progressive Democrat leader Des O’Malley has died aged 82.
The Limerick native started his own party after many rifts with Fianna Fail leader Charles Haughey.
O’Malley was the Fianna Fail leader who never was. He was first elected to the Dail in 1968 and remained a TD until 1992.
Tributes have been paid to the former politician from both the Taoiseach and the Tanaiste amongst other politicians.
