Ostensibly ‘nationalist’ Sinn Fein celebrate British rule as London imposes abortion on Northern Ireland

In Norther Ireland the Derry and Strabane council has passed a motion celebrating the UK Parliaments vote to remove all legal protections for lives of unborn babies up to 7 months gestation.

The motion was proposed by People Before Profit and supported by all Sinn Fein and Alliance councillors as well as half the SDLP councillors and most independents Dr Anne McCloskey an Áontú representative noted on her Facebook page.

The celebration by supposed nationalists of the imposition of legislation directly from the London Parliament on Northern Ireland comes as a surprise to many. However, Sinn Fein have made clear following the Repeal referendum in the Republic they intend to bring abortion on demand to Northern Ireland by any means necessary.

Dr McCloskey commented on in closing on her post about the motion being passed

“Sad day for Irish women and their babies. And their fathers and siblings. A motion opposing cruelty to animals was carried unanimously!”.
