There has been a widespread backlash among students nationwide at yesterday’s ordinary maths paper.
Many have raised their voice to express doubts about proceeding to third level after a particularly complex paper.
While the higher paper was generally met with approval, the ordinary paper has raised deep concerns.
Many took to Twitter to express their frustation, saying that their chances of going onto third level education may have been curtailed due to to their perceived complexity of the paper.
Eamonn Toland, founder of TheMathsTutor.ie, stated that a few of the Section A questions were presented in a way that would have been “unfamiliar to many students… making the questions so much more challenging.”
Despite the widespread complaints from the student community, many teachers have described the paper as “fair”..
