A 41-year-old man has arrived at court in Cork charged with the killing his wife on Friday.
The body of Deepa Dinamani, 38, was found at her home in the Wilton area after a serious attack, reports RTE.
Regin Parithapara Rajan was brought before a special hearing of Cork District Court this morning charged with her murder.
Garda Detective Alan Johnson said he arrested the accused at Togar Garda this morning and charged him, reports RTE.
There was no response to the complaint.
An application for bail was not filed because the district court cannot grant bail on a manslaughter charge.
The defendant’s lawyer, Eddie Burke, urged his client to undergo the necessary treatment while in custody.
Judge Olan Kelleher ruled that it should be.
Mr. Burke also said his client had no means or income and had applied for legal aid, which was granted by Judge Kelleher.
Mr. Rajan was remanded in custody to appear in court again on Thursday, July 20.
Ms Dinamoni, from India, was a chartered accountant and lived for several months at Cardinal Court with her husband and five-year-old child, reports RTE.
