Social media has been set alight this week after it emerged that Luas drivers will not “step off the platform” for less than €800 a week.
An insider who is one of the team preparing to strike during the Leaving Cert said:
“We’re not prepared to take the offer on the table. Transdev need to stump up the cash and pay us what we need. Every driver deserves €800 a week at least”.
They expect a pay hike from €35,901 to €41,895 in their first year. A bonus increase from 6.5pc to 10pc. A free GP service and all of this after qualifying for the job only needing a driving licence – not even a leaving cert.
Many, many degree-granted workers start out with practically half the drivers current salary.
