There is bound to be more fury amongst the public today as it has been revealed that managers at Irish Water are set to be given €420,000 in car allowances for the next year.
According to recent reports it is believed that the number of bosses getting the €10,500 annual allowance has sharply risen by 50% since January. The news comes as Irish Water has announced that 40 senior managers will receive the payment.
It is widely believed that the move will spark further public outrage over the amount of bonuses executives are receiving , However Irish Water has claimed that they paid the extra perks as it had hired more staff.
Although the news should come as no surprise, as the firm have faced strong criticism recently after revelations that under performing employees who apparently “need improvement” will receive a 9% bonus on top of their €90,000 salaries.
A spokesman for Irish water has said that the car allowance was paid to managers who used their own cars in the course of their duties and was fully taxable.
