According to reports this morning it is believed the Government have pledged their commitment to increasing the old-age pension by €5 in the upcoming Budget, along with extending medical card cover to 10,000 children on the domiciliary care list.

The news comes after two Ministers responsible for public finances Michael Noonan and Paschal Donohoe, held a number of discussions with fellow TDs in Fianna Fáil and the Independent Alliance.
It us understood that it has been agreed by senior Government figured that the old-age pension wil be increased by €5 next month, at a cost of €170 million.
Meanwhile it was also agreed that over 10,000 children on the domiciliary care list will automatically receive a medical card, after the Health Minister Simon Harris put forward the proposal earlier this year.
