As we near the day when the first round of water bills begin slipping through our letterboxes, it has emerged that local authorities across the country have passed on the names of some 100,000 tenants to Irish Water. Such move is likely to add more fuel to public anger against the utility.
According to the company, they consulted with the Data Protection Commissioner before requesting such information.
Irish Water expects a high number of queries from concerned citizens regarding the bills, as there will be gaps and multiple errors due to nonregistered customers, misinformation, and other issues.
