Over 200 stranded passengers were forced to spend the night at Cork Airport on Wednesday night after all flights in and out of the airport were cancelled.
According to RTE News over 200 passengers scheduled to leave the airport on Wednesday were forced to spend the night in the airports terminals due to adverse weather conditions caused by storm Emma.
It is believed high winds combined with heavy snowfall caused the airport to come to a standstill as flights were unable to leave or arrive at the airport throughout the afternoon and then again on Wednesday evening.
The 200 passengers who were due to board various flights were left even more stranded as taxi’s and all transport in and out of the airport was halted due to the conditions outside.
It has also been reported that a number of hotel’s and B&B’s have been booked out in the region as hundreds of passengers scheduled to board flights out of the airport in the coming days have been left stranded in the city.
