The Fleadh is back, the first time since its double-bill in Drogheda before the pandemic started.
President Michael D. Higgins officially opened Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath after its two year absense.
It’s expected that more than 500,000 people are expected to attend the Fleadh over the course of the week.
Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was founded in Mullingar in 1951 and the town hosted the first Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann also in 1951.
Over the years, the Fleadh has become the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music, Irish language, gaelic songs and dance.
