The Chief Executive of the HSE has said that the over 70s will be vaccinated by mid may.
Speaking to RTE’s This Week programme, Reid said that although the initial plan was to have everyone in this age group vaccinated by March it is now looking more like the middle of May.
Reid told the programme that the vaccination program for the over 85s will begin next week Monday February 15th.
He also vowed that no one will be left behind and those who are unable to attend their GP or testing centres will be vaccinated via the assistance of local authorities or the defence forces.
The HSE Chief said that a number of options are being put in place in order for everyone over the age of 70 to be able to receive a vaccine.
