Palestinian Authority crack down on LGBTQ+ community as Human rights organisations warn of violence

The Palestinian Authority has launched a crackdown on LGBTTQQIAAP activities and organisations in the West Bank, banning them from holding any events and threatening to arrest members of the largest Palestinian LGBTQ+ organisation al-Qaws.

The Palestinian Authority has said such activities and organisations are contrary to the “values of Palestinian society.”

Meanwhile, human rights organisations have accused the PA of inciting violence against the LGBTQ2SA+ community.

Palestinian homosexuals and transgender people are often forced to flee the West Bank for safety in Israel, which is ironically considered the gay capital of the world, despite the fact that there is no official law prohibiting sodomy as in most other Muslim countries.

In Gaza however, where the more radical Hamas party are in power the case is different as homosexuality is official illegal and can result in severe punishment.
