Bread, milk and meat are running low to empty in many supermarkets around the country.

People have been panic-buying up and down the country as freezing cold weather reaches Ireland.

As Met Eireann predict temperatures that could plummet to -7c and large amounts of snowfall in some areas, people have been hitting the supermarkets in preparation for what could be days of torrential weather.

Supermarket shelves, as seen by The Liberal above, had empty shelves of bread, milk and meat.

People are reminded to care and be kind to older people in society who may only have access to supermarkets at certain time and not to bulk buy and over buy if they don’t need to.
