Parental leave set to be extended as Bill is expected to be approved in the Dail




A new Bill that will extend parental leave is expected to be approved in the Dáil today.

According to RTÉ News, cabinet ministers are expected to overwhelmingly pass the Bill which will see parental leave being extended to 26 weeks.

Under the new legislation, parents of children under 12 will be able to avail of 22 weeks of leave from September 1st.

Meanwhile it will further increase to 26 weeks in 2020.

It is believed that the Bill has gained the vast majority of support in the Dáil since it was first introduced in 2017.
