Parents to avail of an extra two weeks paid paternity leave from next month




There was some good news for parents of newborn or adopted children as paid paternity leave will be extended by two weeks from next week.

Under new legislation to be unveiled this week, parents of newborn or adopted children will be able to take an extra two weeks paid leave within the first year of their life.

The Parental Leave and Benefit Bill which will come into effect on November 1st will reportedly be beneficial to 60,000 new parents.

It is expected that the Bill will be fast tracked through the houses of Oireachtas in the coming weeks.
