An Air Transat jet en route from Rome to Toronto was forced to declare an emergency and divert to Dublin Airport after smoke was detected in the aircraft.
The plane, an Airbus A330 model, was flying just north of Donegal when the incident began. The crew immediately turned around and landed safely at Dublin Airport shortly just after 4:30pm. Several other flights were placed in a holding pattern to clear the approach for the Air Transat aircraft.
Passengers and crew disembarked and emergency services conducted a thorough check.
