According to a report published in the Irish Mirror this morning it is understood that the gardai are targeting a ruthless gang who are currently stealing millions in an operation which involves children as young as 7 years old.
The gardai are trying to stop an operation which is run by Travellers, based in Tallaght, West Dublin, it is believed that the gang are using young children to steal from homes and businesses in the South East. A source close to the operation said: “It’s all well and good catching a few guys in the act but what the gardai want to do is catch the ringleaders, the men who give the orders for the robberies.“But it’s very rare these men would go on some of the robbing trips.“So the gardai are just waiting for these guys to slip up and then they can build a case around that.”
It is understood that the gang travel at least four times a year to different locations across the South East of the country. It is then believed that gang target premises which have been picked out earlier by a person scanning the area. The young children are then used as look-outs whilst others are asked to climb through small windows by their parents so they can access to the premises. Gardai the gang are currently targeting premises in counties Wicklow and Wexford.
