Passenger jet makes emergency landing in Dublin due to smoke in the cockpit

Iberian Express Flight IB-3793 was forced to return to Dublin Airport shortly after take-off this morning, due to the presence of smoke in the cockpit.

The aircraft departed at around 11.30am, bound for Madrid in Spain. While climbing, the crew radioed air traffic controllers that a technical issue had just arisen, and needed to be investigated.

Shortly after that, the crew declared an emergency and requested permission to land immediately. A number of inbound flights were advised to take a holding pattern so the landing of IB-3793 could be expedited. The aircraft landed safely a short time later.

Engineering staff will carry out an inspection of the plane to determine the cause of the smoke.
