Ireland’s rowers Gary and Paul O’Donovan have won the first Irish rowing medal ever at the Olympic Games in Rio today.

The Cork boys finished just behind France to claim Silver in a thrilling finish this afternoon in Rio.

The O’Donovans kept their cool and kept stiff competition at bay to hold off Norway into third.

Well done to both Gary and Paul, no doubt there’ll be plenty of celebrating in Cork tonight!
