A set of 37 new emojis are going to be added to the icon list, including a pregnant man with a moustache.
The update also introduces multi-ethnic handshakes based on any combination of the five available skin tones, complementing the existing standard yellow skin tone.
Other additions include a melting face, a biting lip, a coral, a disco ball, and a “hamsa,” the symbol of the open right hand popular in Arab cultures as protection against the forces of evil.
The pregnant man is joined by a genderless pregnant person and a crown-wearing person, who are meant to be part of an effort to make emojis more inclusive.
It is up to each company to decide which ones are available on their smartphones, email services, browsers, and other platforms.
