Gardai in Co Limerick have confirmed that a man has been seriously injured following a road traffic incident.
It is understood that the man aged in his 30s was seriously injured after he was struck by a car on the M8 at Brackbawn, Kilbehenny, at approximately 3:10pk on Monday afternoon.
Gardai say the injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
They say the driver of the vehicle was uninjured and an investigation is currently ongoing.
