Penney’s hun! Primark still defiant it won’t go online despite projected losses of £1bn during lockdown

Primark, the UK division of Penney’s still defiant it won’t go online despite projected losses of £1bn during lockdown.

Despite 305 of Primark’s 389 global stores being closed, including all 190 of its UK stores, Primark says it has no plans to sell its clothes online, as reported by BBCnews.

They have just issued a warning that lockdown store closures could cost it more than £1bn in lost sales.

Primark has no online presence to cushion lost sales at retail stores and it says the cost of setting up an online presence would force it to raise its prices.
Sales fell 30% to £2bn in the 16 weeks to 2 January.

Online fashion competitors Asos and Boohoo have seen sales soar by around 40% in the last four months of 2020.
