
Locals have identified a pensioner who was slain yesterday afternoon in County Donegal, reports The Mirror.
Danny Gallagher from The Glebe in Downings was identified as the victim.
In his seventies, the late Mr. Gallagher was a married father of several adult children, reports The Mirror.
He was the driver of a van that was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the Milford Road on the R245 outside of Carrigart.
Mr. Gallagher was declared deceased at the scene of the event, which occurred at around 1pm.
Since then, his remains have been taken to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital, where a post-mortem will be conducted when the time is appropriate, reports The Mirror.
Local detours were put in place while the road was stopped for technical analysis by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Any witnesses to this event are being urged to come forward by the GardaÃ, reports The Mirror.
Road users are requested to provide any camera video, including dash cam footage, they may have if they were in the vicinity between 12.10 and 1.10 p.m. to the investigating GardaÃ.
