Gardai are this afternoon advising people to be on alert, as another text scam is doing the rounds these days.
Scammers are sending texts pretending to be representatives from the customer’s bank. The text is written with a sense of urgency, and prompts the person to click on a link or go to a website to ‘unfreeze’ or ‘validate’ their bank account by entering their banking details. Needless to say, this leads to theft.
People are advised to ignore such text messages, or contact their bank if in doubt.
