People have being voicing their outrage on social media over the irony that ESB has reported gigantic profits as people find it extremely difficult to try and heat their home this winter.
ESB Group announced a significant increase in earnings for the first half of the year amid rising energy prices on international markets and rising consumer bills.
According to the half-year result of the group, the profit after taxes and special effects amounts to 390 million euros.
This was more than triple the profit of €128 million in the same period last year. At just under €3.7 billion, sales were up from the previous year’s figure of just under €2.2 billion.
The group reported an operating profit before exceptional items of €357 million, a slight decrease of €6 million compared to the same period last year.
