A young boy who was being bullied in school has undergone further humiliation when a picture was hung in his classroom showing why other children didn’t like him.
According to the Daily Mail, 11-year-old Caien Powell told his parents about the picture which showed him with comments suggesting how he could make the other children like him. These comments were allegedly decided in a group discussion with his classmates.
Caien’s parents Damien Lightoller and Lindy Powell then complained to the school but were allegedly told that the picture was part of “restorative justice”. It is reported that Caien has elements of autism due to a particular condition which, his father claims, can make him appear “noisy” and sometimes boisterous.
To make matters worse, Caien is recovering from the death of his grandmother, who was in intensive care in a hospital for some time before she died so it was a difficult time for him. It is said that the picture remained on the wall of the classroom for several months and Caien was even asked if he wanted to take it home in the school clear-out.
While the Daily Mail report that they asked Caien’s school for a comment, none has yet been forthcoming.
