Oscar Pistorius reportedly offered €27,000 to Reeva Steenkamp’s parents after he shot and killed their daughter, it has emerged.
The former model’s parents rejected this ‘blood money’.
Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel also questioned some monthly payments that Pistorius was making to his girlfriend’s parents, after they asked him for help.
All these revelations came out during the second day of athlete’s sentence hearing. Under cross examination by the prosecution, a social worker explained that Pistorius should be put under ‘house arrest’, due to the violent and dangerous nature of South African’s prisons. The social worker went on to say that the athlete ‘has the potential of becoming a productive member of society again.’
