Police authorities in the UK say they believe that a former Russian spy and his daughter were first poisoned at their home.

In an announcement made on Wednesday, detectives investigating the poisoning of former Russian agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia have said they believe the pair may have first come into contact with deadly nerve agent novichok at their home.

The discovery comes after specialist forensic teams discovered high traces of the deadly toxin on the family’s front door.

It is thought the discovery was made after detectives decided to focus their investigations on the former Russian spies home in Salisbury.

In a statement made on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the counter-terrorism police said investigations at the home of Mr Skripal and surrounding areas will continue for a number of weeks.

They also stated that following the discovery of the deadly toxin at Mr Skripal’s home, the police will now be mainly focused on the property and its surrounding areas as they now believe this is most likely the source of the attack.

The forensic examination of Mr Skripal’s home comes after he and his daughter were both found collapsed on a park bench in Salisbury on March 4th.

They both still remain in critical condition in hospital.
