
Police in the North have confirmed that an investigation is currently ongoing after they received reports that informed them that the complainant in the Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding rape trial was named on social media.
It is believed that the PSNI were informed that the woman at the centre of the case was named on social media platforms contrary to the trial which reached its conclusion on Wednesday.
In a brief statement following the trial the PSNI said they were investigationg the incident as the naming of the woman involved was a breach of her entitlement and by doing so those who identified the woman involved were in breach of the law.
The investigation comes after the four defendants Paddy Jackson, Stuart Olding, Blaine Mcllroy and Rory Harrison were aquitted of all charges at Belfast Crown Court on Wednesday.
