A member of the Irish hip-hop group Kneecap, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, known by his stage name ‘Mo Chara’, has been charged with a terrorism offence for displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah during a performance in London on 21 November 2024, according to British police.
The Metropolitan Police stated that the 27-year-old was charged by postal requisition and is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 18 June 2025.
The charge relates to displaying a flag at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, “in such a way or in such circumstances as to arouse reasonable suspicion that he is a supporter of a proscribed organisation”, reports RTE.
The police noted that their counter terrorism command was alerted to an online video from the event on 22 April 2025, leading to an investigation and subsequent authorisation of the charge by the Crown Prosecution Service.
