Police in the UK have been forced to make a humiliating public apology after footage went viral on social media of an officer who can heard saying he would ‘make something up’ in order to arrest and detain a young man.

The footage shows a confrontation between a police officer and a young male member of the public in Accrington, Lancashire and after the young man proclaims his innocence the officer can be heard saying “I’ll make something up. Public order. Squaring up to a police officer. Shall I do that?”

The officer then went on to say

“Who are they going to believe me or you? Who are they going to believe me or you?”

The Lancashire Police Force have since issued an official response to the video, confirming the matter is being investigated.

The UK is still currently under lockdown conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic with public gatherings restricted and individuals being cautioned about taking unnecessary journeys outside.
