Police investigation underway after fake boarding pass image mocking Emiliano Sala appears on social media

Police in the UK have launched an investigation after an image that apparently mocks Emiliano Sala has appeared on social media.

According to reports in the UK, the investigation comes after the image which mocks a boarding pass was shared on social media ahead of the Welsh derby between Swansea City and Cardiff City later in today.

The post which has been condemned by Swansea City apparently shows a fake boarding pass with a flight number ‘D3AD’ and lists the pilot as ‘Mike Dye’.

The shameful post also apparently mocks the death of a Cardiff City fan Mike Dye who was killed following an attack outside Wembley Stadium in 2011.

Police investigating the incident say they are currently trying to determine where the image originated from and have warned the public not to share it as they would be committing an offence.

Meanwhile Swansea City have confirmed that they are assisting police in their investigation and have condemned those responsible for the image, saying it doesn’t represent Swansea City and our supporters in any way.
