Police vehicle hit with explosive device in Belfast

The attack, bearing all the hallmarks of dissident activity, happened in the Twaddell Avenue area of North Belfast last night.

An explosive device was thrown at an officer’s jeep, causing some damage to the driver’s side. No personal injuries were reported.

Superintendent Muir Clark described the attack as ‘shameful’.

A security operation remains in effect to facilitate a forensic examination.
