One of Nigeria’s leading political figures has made an unbelievable claim that Nigerians are ordering pizzas from Britain and having them flown 4000 miles on British airway flights to Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Agriculture Minister Audu Ogbeh said the African nation of Nigeria is relying far too much on foreign imports which are seen as a status symbol for wealthy Nigerian people.
He announced to a senate agriculture committee in the capital of Abuja that:
“They buy pizza in London, they bring it on British Airways in the morning to pick up at the airport.”
He went on to say that he criticised everyone who imports anything from rice to tomato as it shows a status and class that they’ll only eat imported items.
The politician has faced a severe backlash for his comments.
