Mohamed Abdalrasool, the Sudanese Judo contestant has become the second judoka to withdraw from Tokyo 2020 ahead of his match against Israel’s Tohar Butbul.
The pair were due to go into competition on Monday but Abdalrasool was a no-show when it came to the actual event. No reason has been given for Abdalrasool’s no-show.
Abdalrasool is the second judoka to go AWOL ahead of a bout with Butbul. Earlier in the competition, Algerian Fethi Nourine walked from his olympic hopes saying “We’ve worked a lot to reach the Olympics, but the Palestinian cause is bigger than all of this”, reports the Sun.
The Algerian Olympic committee has withdrewn Nourine and his coach’s accreditation will be sending them home to Algeria.
