British counter terror police have launched an investigation after a man slashed a Christian woman at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park after he lost a debate to her.
Footage on social media showed a man dressed in black approaching the 39-yr-old woman, who was wearing a Charlie Hebdo t-shirt before slashing her across the head.
Police have said the incident is not being treated as terror-related at this time, adding that the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening Sky News reported.
Charlie Hebdo is a satirical French magazine which has been subjected to a number of Muslim terror attacks after it mocked the “Religion of Peace”, including one in January 2015 in which 12 people were killed.
Detective Superintendent Alex Bingley, of the Central West Command Unit, said: “This was clearly a very distressing incident for the woman involved and officers have spent time with her, whilst she was being treated for her injury, to get an account of what happened.
