Pope Francis has come out strong against the evil animals who abused children.
The Pontiff said that clergy who abuse children are the “tools of Satan” while he was speaking on the last day of a Vatican summit on clerical sexual abuse.
Ireland was represented by Eamon Martin, who, priests around the country asked to pray for to help advise him.
According to RTE, Pope Francis said that even a single case of abuse is an “atrocity”. He promised that the Church will address abuse with the “utmost seriousness” and that he will do whatever it takes.
The Pontiff went on to compare sexual abuse of children to human sacrifice, saying: “I am reminded of the cruel religious practice, once widespread in certain cultures, of sacrificing human beings – frequently children – in pagan rites.”
The comments have been met with a positive response with many feeling that the Church is addressing the issues better than before.
