After being admitted to the hospital on February 14th due to bronchitis, Francis’s health worsened and he developed double pneumonia.
Given Francis’s advanced age and the chronic pulmonary condition he has, medical professionals have cautioned that a full recovery would require time, reports RTE.
As a young man, the pope, who leads the approximately 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide, had a portion of his lungs removed. Since then, his health issues have become worse.
He has to use a wheelchair since he is prone to pneumonia and has knee and hip problems.
Francis, however, has persisted in working from the unique hospital suite located on the eleventh story of the Gemelli, reports RTE.
