Possible bad news for TikTok as further job cuts possibly on the horizon for Irish office

TikTok has issued a warning about potential layoffs at its Irish company, reports RTE.

The company’s monetisation integrity team is comprised of the affected jobs.

“As our business continues to grow and evolve, we’re undertaking a redesign of our monetisation integrity team that will enable us to further enhance our integrity assurance processes,” a representative for TikTok stated.

“Regrettably, some roles may be redundant and our priority is supporting affected employees through this transition to minimise the impact of the changes,” the business stated, reports RTE.

At its Irish office, TikTok is still hiring, and it’s anticipated that some of the impacted employees could be able to move to other departments.

In Ireland, TikTok has over 3,000 employees.

It made plans to reorganise its training and quality division public in February, affecting hundreds of jobs with an Irish focus.

The business indicated at the time that many of those employees will be used elsewhere in the organisation, reports RTE.

Around twenty employment in Ireland were put at danger by TikTok in January as a result of a reorganisation of its small and medium-sized company segment.

In an attempt to persuade European authorities that user data is secure, the company’s Irish business is pivotal.

As part of its data security strategy, TikTok has designated “Project Clover” to store user data from users in Europe in data centres located in Norway and Dublin.

The extent to which China has access to user data on the video-sharing app, which is controlled by China, has drawn criticism, reports RTE.
