Postal deliveries may be disrupted due to a strike in An Post. From midnight, staff who maintain key equipment in the four An Post mail centres will go on strike over cuts to pay.
36 staff members are to go on strike. The dispute over pay arose when their employer, IO Systems introduced shift and roster changes which resulted in pay cuts from 10-40%. The Communication Workers Union instructed members not to co-operate with the changes.
IO Systems has said that staff can make up to €100,000 when overtime and premium payments are included. An Post noted that industrial action could impact operations but that they are unsure as to what extent.
