Power hungry: Green Party’s Eamon Ryan ‘ready to enter into coalition with Fine Gael and Fianna Fail’

Many, many people still blame the Green Party for helping to ruin Ireland back in the boom days and especially around September 2008, however, they have been invited into talks with Fine Gael and Fianna Fail to be potentially part of a coalition government.

The prospect of sharing even a few crumbs of power has proved too great for the Green Party, as its leader, Eamon Ryan, has said that his party is ‘ready to enter into a coalition with Fine Gael and Fianna Fail’, according to the Irish Mirror.

Mr. Ryan has reportedly written a six-page letter outlining his demands, laying out 17 questions about emissions, climate change commitments, etc.

He did acknowledge that there were ‘divisions’ within his own party about the idea of joining Fine Gael and Fianna Fail, but the leader’s word seems to have prevailed. It remains unclear whether or not Mr. Ryan himself will be included in the ‘rotating Taoiseach’ roster.

The Green Party is now likely to go the way Labour did after the two main parties used it as a third wheel to prop up their precarious position in a previous coalition.
