Power hungry: Green Party’s Eamon Ryan said to be determined to get into government coalition with Varadkar and Martin

It’s almost certainly not what the people voted for, but it’s almost certain what they’re going to get.

Green Party leader Eamon Ryan said his party would try to negotiate a government programme with Fine Gael and Fianna Fail before the end of May.

He said the document would be voted by party members by postal vote. Ryan spoke after his party agreed to start formal government formation talks on Thursday.

A meeting on Tuesday morning between Leo Varadkar, Micheál Martin and Eamon Ryan started at 11am and took over an hour and a half.

The Greens also published the correspondence that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael had sent them over the weekend.

It shows that the parties would be committed to a new government that would agree to developing measures to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 7% for the next decade. You can just imagine how much that would cost your wallet.

Is this the government that you voted for?
