Prayers and Mass said for woman and newborn baby found dead in Tipperary

Prayers and Mass have been offered for a woman and her newborn baby who were tragically found dead at their home in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, reports The Mirror.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s and of Polish origin, had been long settled in Ireland.

She was discovered by her husband when he returned home at around 1pm on Friday, reports The Mirror.

A post-mortem examination subsequently determined that both the mother and her newborn infant died of natural causes, though the specific medical cause of the mother’s death — and the resulting loss of her baby — has not been publicly disclosed.

The father survived, as did the couple’s two other children. Gardaí confirmed they will prepare a file for the coroner to assist with forthcoming inquests and have stressed that this is a deeply personal tragedy for the family, reports The Mirror.
