Gardaí are currently searching for convicted 19 year old sex offender Mian Shahid who absconded from court before being sentenced.
He was last seen in Foynes, Co. Limerick on the 11th of August and is still thought to be in Ireland, though Gardaí are currently unaware of his whereabouts.
Shahid, who assaulted an 18 year old woman, traveled from Scotland to Ireland earlier this year.
He was convicted in his absence at Stafford Crown Court on the 13th of April of two counts of sexual assault. A warrent was issued the next day for his arrest.
He was sentenced to 30 months imprisonement on the 20th of May in his absence.
Garda representatives have stated that enquiries indicate that he is still in Ireland despite failed attempts at establishing his whereabouts, and are continuing to liaise with Scottish and Staffordshire Police.
