Florida residents have been advised to prepare for the worst as Hurriane Dorian is set to make landfall in the next number of hours.
It’s understood that heavy rains and winds blowing at over 110mph will see the category 4 storm smash into Florida’s south east coast from Monday morning.
Initially a category 3 storm, expert US meteorologists have upgraded it to a category 4.
The Miami-based National Hurricane Center has advised people to gather what they need and prepare to evacuate if necessary or stock up for a 4 days keeping animals inside and a good supply of food, water and other necessities.
They’ve also advised people to batten everyone down that could go air-born. The worst of the storm is expected to hit Monday and Tuesday.
