Price of booze likely to go up after Christmas as a ‘floor price’ is set to be introduced

The price of booze is likely to go up after Christmas as a ‘floor price’ is set to be introduced.

From January, alcoholic drinks sold at Tesco, off-licences, and other outlets will be subject to a minimum price below which the item cannot be sold.

That price will be based on the amount of alcohol contained in the drink. The more alcohol, the higher the price.

Prices in pubs, nightclubs, and restaurants will not be affected as drinks are already sold at extortionate prices there anyway.
