Primary schools in south Dublin have issued a warning to parents after a man attempted to abduct two children in separate incidents this week.
According to the Independent, both schools in Booterstown and Monkstown sent a text message to parents telling them to be “vigilant” and extra careful.
The message reads: “We have had reports of children being approached by a man in a dark car in the Shankill area. Please be vigilant.”
A parent from one of the schools posted on Facebook.
“A man in his twenties with blonde hair and well-spoken asked [my son] to get into his car and offered him sweets. When [my son] said no and ran away the car followed him. [He] ran back the opposite way to his grandparents and told them what happened,” the father wrote.
The parent said the man was driving a black car with a 99 registration.
Gardai confirmed that they are investigating two “suspicious approaches” in the area by a man in a black car.
