The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has called for rapists and child molesters to be publicly hanged or chemically castrated.
In an interview with 92News, the Pakistani Prime Minister said that those found guilty of such horrific crimes should face such penalties as it would prevent them from carrying out such a crime in the future.
Khan who has said that he has discussed the proposals with his cabinet, told 92News that the horrific crimes of rape and child molestation is under reported in the country as many victims feel ashamed or scared and therefore don’t report it.
Although Khan has advocated for public hanging for offenders, he said that sentence wouldn’t be internationally acceptable and therefore could harm the country’s relationship with the EU and other countries.
However he did state that he believes that sex offenders should be chemically castrated or have some form of surgery so they can’t do anything in the future.
It is believed that Khan’s comments come after a French woman was raped multiple times in front of her two young children last week.
The horrific crime occurred when the woman who ran out of fuel on a motorway was dragged away from her car and raped by two men who then fled the scene with her jewellery and money.
