Pro Life activist and former Sinn Fein TD Peadar Toibin has announced that he’s going to start a new political party after he resigned from Sinn Fein yesterday.
Toibin said that he made the decision over the course of 18 months and that there was no way back for him in the Sinn Fein party.
Peadar was vocal in his support of a No vote in the abortion referendum and wanted the Eighth Amendment to remain as it was, but that Pro Life support saw him thrown out of Sinn Fein for 6 months.
The Meath West TD was left with little option other than to leave the party.
He said that he’ll now start a new political party and has already gotten support from some Fianna Fail politicians who feel Michael Martin is running the party in a very bad direction.
