US President Donald Trump has announced a new executive order on Wednesday that forces medical professionals to administer aid to a baby who survives an attempt to kill it during an abortion and is born alive.
Speaking in a pre-recorded video address during the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast President Trump said:
“Today I am announcing that I will be signing the Born-Alive Executive Order to ensure that all precious babies born alive, no matter their circumstances, receive the medical care that they deserve. This is our sacrosanct moral duty.”
The move is likely to infuriate Democrats and progressive idealogues in the United States who have blocked the ‘Born-Alive Infant Protection Act’ that has been introduced several times in Congress but has failed to become law.
Currently in many US states, infants who survive attempts to kill them in their mother’s womb’s are left to die, often in agony have endured serious injuries and some senior Democrats have even touted the idea of “post-birth abortion” where a baby could be murdered after its natural birth.
The full text of the executive order has yet to be released, but is expected to mirror the attempted federal legislation on the issue US media reports.
